As a Certified Spanish Medical Interpreter, I have knowledge of the complex medical terminology, specialized medical forms, and a clear understanding of medical-legal reports as well as the workers’ compensation system. Immigration
Interpreting assistance and support for non-English speakers seeking asylum in the U.S.The success of this type of application often depends on the success of the interview and misinterpreted or misunderstood questions can lead to a denied appeal. My experience in asylum interviews allows me to break through the language barrier and offer professional guidance to help the LEP answer their asylum officer’s questions correctly and ensure they understand the documentation involved.

Healthcare
My knowledge is based on the National Standards for Cultural and Linguistic Competence from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health; as well as federal laws, national best practices and codes of ethics from IMIA, NCIHC, and CCHI. My experience as a Certified Spanish Medical Interpreter in hospitals, clinics, and doctors offices has prepared me to provide precise and faithful language interpretation while effectively bridging communication gaps between healthcare professionals and non-English-speaking community groups.

Hi, I’m Carolina. Nice to e-meet you! A little about me:
- My experience as a Certified Spanish Medical Interpreter has provided me with a great platform to learn specialized terminology and the system of diverse healthcare settings as well as all matters within the Worker’s Compensation system (medical-legal cases). During my day-to-day at work, I learned that simply communicating languages is not enough; it is important for healthcare professionals to understand and appreciate different cultures as well as different backgrounds to be able to provide appropriate and cultural healthcare.
- I hold a Certificate in Medical Interpretation from the Southern California School of Interpretation as well as a Certification of Medical Interpretation credential with both the National Board of Certified Medical Interpreters and the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters. I am currently enrolled in a Court Interpreting program through the Southern California School of Interpretation as I aspire to become a Court Certified Interpreter in the near future. Honing my skills continuously within my professional fields is relevant to me. Thus, they are a key ingredient in keeping one step ahead of the constant evolution of this market and technological progress.
- I am an active member in various Interpreting & Translations associations: American Translators Associations (ATA), National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC), California Healthcare Interpreting Association (CHIA), Northern California Translators Associations (NCTA), Voices Academy, and the Communication Workers of America – Interpreters Guild of America (CWA-IGA). These associations keep me abreast to the best practices while embracing this life-long learning commitment.
- As I make my way to the next step in my career, my passion for giving back to my community has motivated me to serve as a volunteer interpreter in several non-profits organizations such as the American Translators Association – Spanish Division (ATA), Global Voices, Arizona Translators and Interpreters (ATI), Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), California Dental Association (CDA), Blood Source and NCTA. This enables me to use my skills to give back to a profession and community that have been so good to me.
- Originally from Córdoba, Argentina; an outdoors enthusiast and a true world citizen. I love my work and I put my heart and soul into every project; because nothing makes me prouder than empowering my clients to get their results.

Culture
According to the 2011 American Community Survey conducted by the Census Bureau, in the United States, 60 million people (1 in 5 Americans) speak a language other than English in their home. Out of that 20% of the population, 9% are considered to be Limited English Proficient (LEP).
Linguistics
Presidential Executive Order 13166, Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency, directs recipients of federal funds to “examine the services it provides and develop and implement a system by which LEP persons can meaningfully access those services consistent with, and without unduly burdening, the fundamental mission of the [recipient].”
My Passion Led Me Here
Section 1557 is the nondiscrimination provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Section 6 of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides that “no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
